5 days from now, we'll be practicing our right to choose the most "appropriate" person to lead this nation. but. several issues has risen for the first automated election in the country. i would like to enumerate some of my concerns.
1. it has been reported by the Comelec that wrong ultraviolet ink were used for the printing of the ballots. these UV ink is supposed to be detected by the machine to identify fake ballots. they've announced that they would just disable those UV sensors and just provide BEI some hand-held UV sensors. my question is, how would those portable sensors detect the fake ballots from the original since presumably, it could detect any UV ink, but not specifically the one used for ballot printing.
2. Aside from the problems with ultraviolet ink, the COMELEC has also removed a provision for digital signatures. In the original law (RA 9369), Sections 19 and 20 required that election returns and certificates of canvass be digitally signed by members of the Boards of Election Inspectors. The COMELEC’s own General Instructions to BEI dated December 29, 2009 (COMELEC Resolution No. 8739) required digital signatures from the BEI by inserting an iButton security key into a security key receptacle in the machine. This would presumably prevent unauthorized transmissions plus allow authorities to trace back who exactly was transmitting from specific locations and machines. (source NAMFREL)
3. other than those issues with the automated elections, it has also came to my senses the issues of black propaganda. where one throws mud to the other just for the former to look cleaner. those politicians are not the only one guilty of it. even the common people who'll be shading some circles on monday practices it. i think that it's better for us to give emphasis to our presidentiable bet's strengths other than pointing our fingers to our opponent's imperfections and faults. i guess those who continuously doing it can't find their candidate's advantage over the other. bringing others down won't make us higher. telling other people how ugly they are wont make us more beautiful. do not let external factors affect your capability to choose the right person that you think could serve you and this nation.
because at the end of the day, its not the question of "who will you vote this coming election". but your willingness to support the ELECTED leader for the sake of CHANGE. because most of the presidentiables (Gibo, Gordon, Aquino, Villar) already have a clear vision for this country. would you let another presidential term to be wasted? i guess its time for us to set aside our pride and support the leader chosen by many. time to prioritize this country.Labels: current issues, reactions, updates
