the role of social networking sites nowadays became very popular to those "techie" and "not-so-techie" at heart. they've provided another tool of communication in visual form and the likes. they were able to provide ways on how an individual could express his/her thoughts to almost everyone.
all of us had fun updating that status on our
facebook pages. we share our thoughts to friends, who will either like it or put comment on it. but like what i've said regarding status updates, it is not acceptable to change that status every minute. it's either people will ignore you or remove you from their list. that's where
twitter plays its part. they've provided 140-characters for you to summarize what's happening at the moment. they have given us the option to follow some people who catches our interest.
but mind you.. there's a danger of using such social site. it gives you the idea that since you're all by yourself, sitting in front of a desktop, laptop or on your mobile, you're all alone and nobody can hear you. continuous tweeting with no response from others also gives you the idea that no one cares with what you tweet and you're just being ignored. then you'll drown into the illusion that "since nobody reacts with what i say, i'll just say what i want to say. nobody cares anyway.." where in fact others are watching your every tweet (especially if you're a celebrity). the responsibility is being overcome by your "freedom" to express. and you may end up bashing other people.
some celebrities step down to their level and ignite most twitter fights and issues. they must remember to compose their selves in the same way that they project themselves in front of the camera. being on twitter means you're letting people continuously watch and hear you out.
but hey, we don't need to be a celebrity to be responsible in twitter. we know twitter is fun but we must use it wisely. a lot of articles have been made throughout the web on how to tweet, what to tweet, what you mustn't tweet and the likes so it will be redundant for me to give you such informations.
just bear in mind Plato's words of wisdom (applied to twitter)
"Wise men
tweet because they have
something to say; but fool men
tweet because they have
nothing to say."
