Unconsciously, we're looking for someone who can dominate us, or least, someone whom we could submit ourselves into. Only when one hold on to pride too long that causes turmoil and disrupts the implied agreement.
Though such unspoken roles exist, one may find oneself submissive to someone who, on the other hand, submits oneself to the former. In reality, such relationship exist but not long enough. For sooner or later, one must take the wheel and drive the ship especially during rough winds and rocky roads, to keep the relationship smooth sailing again as much as possible.
Thus we could take either roles no matter how hard we deny it to ourselves. Because sometimes we rather be the sub at some point during the travel..
