Amongst all the childhood stories we all knew like Snow White, Red Riding Hood, Jack & The Beanstalk revamped into mildly brutal but entertaining movies, Hansel and Gretel is, I think, the best.
Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton played the lead roles very well, combining the good-looks and charm with awesome kick-ass witch-killing stunts. It's fun watching how Hansel acts after being seduced and see Gretel's "I'm bitchier than you" pout, stare, and cleavage; which btw is half the reason why I watched the film. (Sorry, bosom guy here.)
They've made a very interesting twists in the old-school candy eating children. And it's safe to assume that this isn't for those who still thinks 69 is just a plain number. Vulgarity is present in words and violence is deliciously present, balanced and not too overwhelming in the film. I've heard "fuck" for multiple times, seen bloodbaths, gore and some "parts" not usually seen so that's a +4.
Other than seeing Gretel's twins or Hansel's pecs embossed, 3D is a little useless I must say. All I've seen were shattered barks blasting towards me. So it's safe to see it even in 2D.
Overall. It's 9.5 out of 10. :)Labels: reactions, TV/Movies
