Call-Center Guy

Sticks of cigarette. Cups of coffee. Calls dropped. And some of the things he barely remembered since he woke up few hours ago during the setting sun.

He struggled to wake himself up as he dragged himself dizzily under the warm shower. That felt good. He savoured the lukewarm water running from his hair, to his chiselled chest to his perineum down to his feet. He made such like a pre-graveyard ritual of cleansing.

He wore the jeans and plaid shirt his hands first laid into. Not noticing how updated his wardrobe was. Fixed his hair with ample hair clay, and stared at the dark circles under his eyes in the mirror. Sexy, smokin, poker-faced. He walked out of his unit to his work in no time.

Lunch break. With his adrenaline moderately circulating in his blood, he momentarily paused and stared at the ceiling. His miniature arm hair grow stiff at the freezing temperature of the floor where he's working. Lights blurred on his sight. He stood up. Walked out towards the smoking lounge groggy like a zombie. Head-turner. Eye-catcher. He avoided stares of curiosity, envy, affection and admiration on his path.

He lighted up a stick. Let the smell of the menthol lingered inside then blown into the atmosphere. He closed his eyes and felt the stiffness he was trying to let go. He stared back at the enigmatic eyes of the person he can't stop thinking for quite some time now; standing at the corner of the room. He's feeling the intensity of the attraction. Hearts pumping fast. He took the wink as a signal to succumb at that sexy soft lips. He pinned himself, not giving a fuck with the clothes clamoured on their bodies.

Then he let go. Winked back and walked towards the floor a little tachycardic than before.

End of shift. With calls catered, some hold, most dropped; he has lost himself at the nagging voices of irate callers. He stepped out of his building with the sky starting to tune down its hue. He kissed the morning breeze and took a deep breathe. He walked slower than usual, watching the golden ball slowly rise up. He's lacking fulfilment and growth. He was contented but not happy. He knew it and he's not doing anything about it. He just closed his eyes and let his skin glow alive as he drenched in the morning light.

Then an unknown voice coming from a familiar face broke his delusion.

"Hey.. I was wondering.. Do you wanna go out and have breakfast with me?"

He smiled. For the first time. Since last night.
